Shiny Shiny Productions is a queer-led creative production company founded by interdisciplinary artists and producers Melania Jack and Patty Preece. Working across contemporary art, projection, sound, installation and live performance, Shiny Shiny Productions develops and delivers ambitious, site-responsive projects for galleries, festivals and public spaces. Combining Melania’s expertise in creative production, projection, artist development and interdisciplinary collaboration with Patty’s experience in sound, creative technology, project coordination and technical delivery, the duo support artists and organisations to realise complex, innovative works from concept through to presentation. With a strong focus on collaboration, accessibility and artist care, Shiny Shiny Productions brings together creative vision, technical knowledge and professional project management to deliver engaging contemporary art experiences for diverse audiences.
Melania Jack is an interdisciplinary artist, creative producer and mentor with more than twenty years' experience working across projection, immersive installation, live performance, sound, electronic music and digital media. Their practice explores the intersection of technology, place and community through ambitious, site-responsive works that bring together artists, performers and technical collaborators. As both an artist and producer, Jack has developed a reputation for delivering technically complex projects that balance strong artistic vision with thoughtful collaboration and effective project delivery.
Alongside their artistic practice, Jack has extensive experience producing multi platform arts projects from concept through to presentation. They have managed multidisciplinary teams, production schedules, budgets, funding agreements and stakeholder relationships across festivals, galleries and public art contexts. Their experience includes leadership roles as Programs Coordinator at NorthSite Contemporary Arts and Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) Coordinator - Arts Queensland, where they developed artist support initiatives, exhibitions and professional development opportunities. They have also secured and managed funding through organisations including Arts Queensland, Creative Australia, Regional Arts Fund and Create NSW, supporting artists to realise ambitious creative outcomes. Jack has a Masters in Creative Industries.
Patty Preece is an electronic musician, sound artist and creative project coordinator with extensive experience supporting interdisciplinary arts projects across public art, performance, creative technology and education. Their artistic practice explores the relationship between sound, technology, gender and labour through performance, installation and experimental instrument design, including their ongoing collaborative work with The Ironing Maidens, which combines hacked domestic objects, custom electronics, projection and immersive live performance.
Through their creative practice and professional roles, Preece has developed strong skills in project coordination, artist support, production planning and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. They bring valuable experience working between artists, producers, technical teams and communities, with an understanding of the creative development process and the practical requirements involved in delivering complex contemporary arts projects.
Their combination of project coordination experience, creative technology knowledge and artist-centred approach provides valuable support for festival delivery, artist communication, mentorship programs and the coordination of projection-based creative projects.
Patty is an associate Lecturer in Music Technology at CQUniversity, Cairns.
Patty is currently engaged in a PHD Program through University of QLD.
