Melania Jack
Melania Jack brings to the project, education and industry experience in music production and performance, film production, project management and social media management. Her broad experience has provided her with a wide range of skills and enthusiasm for cross platform, multimedia projects.
Melania has a varied background in live performance, starting independently as a songwriter, working as part of larger performance groups and for the last years as part of the electronic duo Shiny Shiny. Her focus with the Ironing Maidens project is to bring out the social and political concepts within the narrative of the show through the lyrics and songwriting, with an entertaining and humorous approach.
Melania has worked for 10 years on community based music performance projects for organizations such as Music Outback,Stylin’ Up Regional Festival and Our Regional Centre, both in project management and arts worker capacities.
Melania has worked on a range of film projects from dirtgirlworld - Get Grubby TV (2nd unit director, social media content development) to award winning music film clips. She has collaborated on and created projections for many projects including the dirtgirlworld musical at the Sydney Opera house Jan 2016 , the group immersive project VVR - virtually virtual reality and the live stream from the 2016 ARIA’s with Costa Georgiadis and dirtgirl. She provides the artistic direction for the Ironing Maidens visual elements and projections, the live streams and will direct the documentation of the project.
Social media content development, creation and management has been a key role during her recent time working for dirtgirlworld, and the new Arts festival - The Balinale. (Ballina NSW). She has managed the dirtgirlworld social media with 347k followers and an average reach of 1 million per week.
Melania holds the following qualifications; Diploma of Contemporary Music - Northern Rivers Conservatorium, Diploma of Film Production - SAE Byron Bay, Certificate of Costume for Performance TAFE, Certificate Training and Education, Program Development and Facilitation- The Outlook Centre.
Patty Preece (Patty Bom)
Patty Bom graduated as Valedictorian from the SAE Byron Bay Bachelor of Audio Production and continued to work as a VET teacher and Head HE tutor, specialising in studio production and music production for screen and radio. She currently lectures at Central Queensland University in music and production.
Patty Bom is passionate about pushing the sonic envelope of music creation & experimentation and creating opportunities for women to learn all aspects of audio tech. Her company Shiny Shiny Productions with co-founder Melania Jack, previously ran as an independent electronic music school whose ethos was centred around accessible and inclusive access for all persons. She has also worked in community music education programs including Stylin Up Regional - Brisbane. Patty has been charged with the responsibility of studio installs for (previously) 301 Studio Byron Bay, Marli Sounds (Studio install and training Pat Davern; Grinspoon) and currently CQU Cairns.

Patty is a founding member of the experimental synth band We Play Machines who won the local North Coast Entertainment Industry Association award for Best Electronic Song in 2016. She had engineered and assisted in a production role for a number of Australian Artists including; Bertha Control (Brisbane), CC the Cat (Gold Coast), the Book Club Boutique (London), Hussy Hicks,Mish Songsmith, Ben Wilson and the Jobseekers, Sali Bracewell, The Upsteppers, CC the Cat, Bertha Control, Black Boi, The Lyrical, Eric Erdman, Jimmy Willing and Click Bait.
Working alongside the Emmy Award winning team of Cate McQuillen and Hewey Eustace (mememe Productions-dirtgirlworld, get grubby TV) for the past 5 years patty has had the opportunity to work as the Production Assistant on the Get Grubby TV pilot and the sound recordist for the ABC series production of the same name. She has also been involved in the audio post production of the dirtgirlworld online content and the live stream event on the ARIA’s red carpet (2016).
Patty has worked as a live sound engineer for the past 10 years at venues and festivals such as Mullum Music Fest, Bello Winter Fest, Feast Festival, Bluesfest Byron Bay (stagehand), The Rails (Byron Bay), Tropical Fruits New Years Festival (Lismore), The Tatts, The Grace Darling (Melbourne) etc.
Most recently she has worked on the Ironing Maidens project, developing MIDI controllers and custom Synthesisers inside domestic irons to use as performance instruments. She has a passion for experimentation with non-traditional instrument design and its influence on the creative practice of music composition.
